This class is geared towards those who have little or no prior drumming experience, but also accommodates intermediate players.
We cover basics such as: holding and striking a drum properly, basic coordination drills, easy rhythms, and playing as a group.
Drums are available to use if you do not own one.
Those with prior experience will be given more challenging rhythms and playing techniques.

Hello community!

Many of you have been gearing up for the World Rhythm Festival in
Seattle, April 23-25, 2010. We are looking forward to another
incredible festival this year.

But wait! There's more!

This year we are going for a world record for the largest drum circle
on Saturday, April 24. We are verifying numbers and requirements
with the Guinness World Record people; we are planning for between
5,000 and 8,000 people. We have reserved Key Arena and have the
support of the Seattle Center and Key Arena.

This project is a cooperative effort between the Seattle World
Percussion Society and MusicianCorps Fellow and noted Brazilian
musician Eduardo Mendoça, artist in residence at the Cultural
Programs Office at the Seattle Center. Part of a pilot project
signed into law by President Obama last year, MusicianCorp is sort of
like an "Americorp for the arts" with pilot programs in four cities
throughout the country designed to connect arts in the community.

But wait, there's even more! Arthur Hull facilitates a community
drum circle on Sunday after the workshops and performances are done.
Arthur's drum circle is a highlight of every WRF and a fitting end to
a weekend of dance and drum.

This is the year to come to Seattle! Be a part of a world record-
